History

The history of salt therapy, or halotherapy, dates back centuries and has roots in Eastern Europe. The therapeutic use of salt was first recognised in the 19th century when a Polish physician, Dr. Feliks
Boczkowski, observed that workers in salt mines had unusually healthy lungs compared to other miners. This led to the establishment of "salt caves" for therapeutic purposes in Poland and Russia. The modern form of halotherapy began in the mid-20th century, when scientists developed machines that could replicate the microclimate of natural salt caves by dispersing fine salt particles into the air. This
allowed people to experience the respiratory and skin health benefits of salt therapy without the need to visit underground mines. Since then, salt therapy has become popular worldwide for its ability to
treat respiratory conditions, skin disorders, and enhance overall well-being. Today, halotherapy is widely used in wellness centres, spas, and clinics to promote physical and mental health.
